regarding ebay auctions & buyers with low feedback scores

its one of those things i really never thought i’d have to contend with…

a rule i never thought i would have to instate….

but alas, here we are. so from here on out my ebay auctions will have some wording to this effect near the bottom of the product description:

if you are new to ebay and have a feedback score below 5 and/or if you are from a country where English is not the primary language, you will have to EMAIL ME BEFORE YOU BID so i can be assured that you understand what you are purchasing/ paying for. if i do not receive an email –and you still make a payment for something– i will email you to make sure you understand what you are purchasing (just doll clothing and listed accessories) and you will have to respond stating that you understand before i will fully accept your payment and ship the product.

this is specifically related to the fact that there’s no way in hell i’d sell my dolls with the clothing ensembles. no way in hell i’d sell the furniture, the backdrops, the decorative accessories or anything other just the doll clothing for the prices i charge if the doll’s wig or shoes are included in the auction they will be listed in the bullet-offset list of all the things the ensemble includes.

really and truly! if someone where to sell a mint condition asian ball jointed doll with face-up + coordinating clothing ensemble + wig+ eyes + shoes + everything– the price would be a hell of a lot higher than $150!

its one of those situations were its a mistake that is costly to a merchant and just an unnecessary hassle over all.

in case you didn’t know: ebay charges a merchant when the merchant first lists the item, charges another fee for the “final value” when the item sells, then paypal –of course– charges their fees. then there’s the cost in my time and energy: packaging, boxing and driving down to the post office or mailing depot to send out stuff. after something’s dropped off i can’t just pop over there at 8 p.m. to say “you know that brown box i brought in that’s in that stack of 5000 others. yeah…well never mind shipping that one: just hand it back to me and we’ll call it squarezies!”. doesn’t work that way. once the box is in the mail…its in the mail.

whoo am i fired up. sorry folks. this article is a bit of therapy. i’m gonna cool off about this sooner or later, but its looking like it will be later. if i didn’t put detailed descriptions of EXACTLY what was included in every auction i’d only have myself to blame for this mishap. but that is not the case. i do put extremely detailed wording explaining exactly what you are getting and there’s even a sentence that clearly states what is not for sale. that THE DOLL IS MOST CERTAINLY NOT FOR SALE and there is a sentence that says this.  its like a freakin’ template at this point.

in the unlikely event that this situation ever befalls any of you out there, devoted blog reader & pixxxie pie fan, know this now: i understand. despite the ranting and raving i know that mistakes happen when people get too excited and don’t take the time to read over auction descriptions or if they just aren’t fluent in the particular language the description is written in.

i have a heart and sometimes i wish i didn’t. but the last thing i need for my karma is to have a totally ruthless “all sales are final” policy. and i can’t abide sending out something i put alot of time into to somone that can’t even use it. but in this situation don’t even open the box once you get it. don’t even cut it to sneak a peak! some lucky clients get limited edition wooden keepsake boxes on occasion and i don’t want it damaged due to willy nilly cutting. just go to the post office and mail it back to me pronto!! i will refund your money once i get the package back and see that all the goods -and the keepsake box they come to you in — are in damn near perfect condition. when i see that all is well you will receive your refund minus a small fee of $30.

but don’t expect me to necessarily leave you glowing feedback on ebay. i won’t be rude. never rude. but i will make the facts known to some extent because its something any seller would want to know about a potential buyer before packaging and shipping them something that’s worth over $150.

next: i’m on the hunt for anyone who would be willing to donate their time to translating this statement for me into Spanish, French, German etc. i can pay. i’m not rolling around in money but i could pay if the price were reasonable. maybe we could even barter! so if anyone out there has any ideas on this please feel free to contact me. the statement i add to my ebay auctions will probably be a bit shorter and maybe sweeter (something like “doll not for sale at this time: only clothing listed”) but contact me if you feel up to the task or if you know someone with translation smarts.
