somewhere down the line it seems we lost our way when it comes to how the things we utilize are adorned. to me, it seems that we have become a people ensconced in sterile, plain, un-embellished articles. no extra work goes into the tactile look and feel of things in our new age. i wish i could say that this sacrifice of presentation has lead us to more reliable, sturdier products overall…but it has not and we all know it. we pay ridiculous prices for products that don’t last as long and that have all the aesthetic appeal of a gynocologist’s office. and i do have moments where i wish to dwell in a world akin to stanley kubrick’s 2001: a space odyssey…all slick, clean, white, plastic facades held cheek-to-cheek with chrome so bright and shiny you just want to lick it. like everything was spit out of some kind of “apple / mac aesthetic” stamp machine. but that’s not everyday.

no, on an every day basis, i’m pretty positive my previous lives beckon me to a much richer landscape for i’d much prefer the world bedecked in brisk brass art nouveau / neo-victorian/ steampunk finery and i find myself a bit dizzy when exposed to too many antiques at one time.

in ode to a better world, the wormwood brings you a glimpse at some of the geniuses of the steampunk realm…take a look see:

the vast mix of odds and ends pumped out by the following are a testament to a creativity that’s on another level. in the past i’ve stated that beyond my bound consort, i’d consent to have the babies of only 2-4 other human males. those are: doctor who (handsome time lord type essentially), trent reznor (musical genius), david bowie (whom i believe to be the anti-christ or some immortal archmage + musical genius), doc hammer (because the venture brothers cartoon just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and i put the blame squarely on doc hammer despite his creative partnership with jackson publick), nathan explosion of dethklok (cause there’s just something about nathan)…and then there’s these steampunk contraption creators. what the hell is it about someone with the smarts to assemble and fabricate things that just turns a girl on!

first up is: datamancer.net (rich nagy)

here’s a look at a step by step on building the nagy magical-movable-type-pixello-dynamotronic computational engine ™: click here and go to datamancer site!

down below you’ll see the steampunk laptop + gear-topped lid

next up: steampunklab.com

last, but certainly not least: the steampunk workshop (proprietor hieronymus isambard “jake” von slatt)

so many projects, so much inspiration!

so yeah, get out there. look some people up. do some research!

well it looks like my little issues with paypal placing payments made to the pixxxie pie emporium on hold has stopped…at least for now, lol. we’ll see. in case you’re curious, or its a been a long time since you’ve sold anything through Ebay/Paypal, here’s a look at the policy that’s had me scratching my head with mild irritation for a handful of days. of course, i understand why such a policy exists…but that didn’t change the fact that it was a bit of an annoyance in the short time it applied to me.

here’s a hint: dsr= detailed seller rating/ see this page on detailed seller ratings at Ebay site.

Payment Holds for eBay Items

eBay and PayPal are working together to improve the buyer experience and to make the eBay marketplace even safer. We may hold some payments to make sure transactions are completed smoothly. See terms

What is a payment hold for an eBay item?

It’s when PayPal temporarily holds a payment you receive for an item you sold on eBay. The amounts held will appear as Pending in your PayPal account until we release the funds. You still have access to all other funds in your PayPal account.

When will PayPal release the payment hold for an eBay item?

Your funds will be released after 21 days. We may release funds earlier when one of the following occurs:

  • The buyer leaves you positive feedback on eBay
  • 3 days pass after we confirm the item was delivered*

If you receive a dispute, claim, chargeback, or reversal on the transaction subject to the eBay item hold, we may hold the payment until the problem is resolved, even if the claim, chargeback, or reversal occurs after the hold is released.

Why would PayPal hold one of my payments?

To increase marketplace safety, we may hold payments that seem risky. Here are some common reasons for holding payments:

  • You have been an eBay member for less than 6 months, and you sell an item for more than $100, or
  • You have an eBay feedback score of less than 100, and you sell an item for more than $100, or
  • You have a Buyer dissatisfaction percentage** 5% or greater than 5%, or
  • You have an average Detailed Seller Rating (DSR) of less than 4.5, or
  • You have received fewer than 20 Detailed Seller Ratings in the last 12 months, or
  • You are listing your item in a high-risk category such as gift certificates, video games, cell phones, computers or consumer electronics.

PayPal doesn’t hold payments for eBay items if you meet the following:

  • You have been an eBay member for 6-months or more, and
  • Your total Feedback score is 100 or greater, and
  • Your Buyer dissatisfaction percentage** is less than 5%.
Or
  • Your average DSR is 4.5 or greater and
  • Your have received 20 or more DSRs in the last 12-months
  • Your buyer dissatisfaction percentage is less than 5%

How can I avoid receiving an eBay item hold?

Here are some things you can do:

  • Improve your DSR feedback rating
  • Follow the PayPal best practices to reduce buyer disputes, claims and chargebacks
  • Resolve all disputes, claims, and chargebacks quickly

I’m a new seller. Will payments I receive be held?

If you are a seller with an eBay feedback score lower than 100, but you have a record of good performance, you’ll receive payments instantly in most cases.

* We can confirm delivery if you ship the item with UPS, USPS or FedEx and either use PayPal shipping labels or upload tracking information from the transaction details page. This applies to transactions within the United States. If a payment is held, it appears as Pending in your PayPal account until it is released.

** Buyer dissatisfaction percentage is measured by adding negative events as a percentage of your transactions. Negative events include negative & neutral Feedback, Detailed Seller Ratings scores of 2 or lower, and disputes for items not received or significantly not as described.

news from the 7th underbelly of the goblin market:

Currently Listed On Ebay!

The Thex Arkadia Suit

the barbaroi suit

the imriel suit

Also: PayPal /in conjunction with Ebay/ now offers seller/buyer protection...which effectively puts funds paid to a merchant (over $100) in a state of limbo until either, they (PayPal) confirm that the product was delivered to the client or the client leaves positive feedback via Ebay…or –if none of the before mentioned situations happen–PayPal will release the funds after 21 days pass without a client disputing the charges etc.

Now, this is all well and good and completely understandable, but let it be known that the Pixxxie’s and I don’t get paid until you leave feedback…even though we’ve lovingly packaged the goodies and shipped them out in a timely fashion (I commonly ship out goods the day after you order them unless it’s a Sunday or a Holiday).  So this really goes out to my Ebay clients whom I Love and Adore: Please don’t forget to leave feedback on Ebay, lol.

And worry not: I commonly leave my clients positive feedback as soon I note that they’ve left feedback for the Emporium.

Regarding Returns and Exchanges:

I commonly have a policy of all sales are final. However, I’m not completely heartless on this subject. Should I lose my mind and somehow send you the wrong ensemble I will gladly allow you to exchange the ensemble and I will send you the correct ensemble at my expense.  Just email me super quick and I’ll take care of the issue ASAP! However, please note that I have never ever sent a client the wrong ensemble.

…And, if by chance you should ever receive an ensemble that is damaged…as in “damaged from within the box”..ya know, you open up the box and somehow…someway….something’s torn, a zipper is falling clean off or the Hitchcock Birds have been compelled to peck your darling package to bits and pieces….do contact me so we can arrange to fix the issue. Again, I’ve never had any of the above mentioned befall a client.

Keep in mind that neglecting to measure your doll does not grant you a golden ticket towards exchanging merchandise & refunds. I’ve got dollie measurements plastered all over my website for your viewing pleasure…so please take a moment to check your dollies measurements before you commit to purchasing from the Pixxxie Pie Emporium.

And I do check my measurements pretty regularly to make sure they’re not off kilter. If you ever notice a measurement that’s completely wonky, as in off the mark by a country mile, please feel free to email and I’ll double check some things & make necessary corrections!

Blessed Be, Take Care and Have a Happy New Year, Darlings!!
